Nisswa Guides Latest Fishing Report
Date: 8/17/2010
Report: It's the middle of August already, where has the summer gone??? However, fishing remains good to EXCELLENT in the Brainerd lakes area. The walleyes have been more cooperative than they were a couple of weeks ago, especially during days with some kind of chop on the water. Marv, Glen and Lee all put lots of walleyes in their boat today and all were fishing on different bodies of water! They are biting on Redtails, creek chubs and occasionally a nightcrawler in 12-24 feet f water. Gull and Whitefish continue to be the best bet for "eyes." The Bass and Pike fishing continues to be nothing short of sensational with numerous lakes and techniques giving up both quantity and quality fish. It has not been uncommon to catch 50 bass/pike in a half day of fishing lately, in fact there was a day last week where we caught and released over 120!!! Wow! Panfish reports have been a little more hit and miss, as the crappies seem to be more scattered over deeper water and the big "gills" have dropped to the deepest weedy areas. Musky action has also started to heat up, as now until the end of the fall is prime time for the the biggest fish we have! Give us a call at 218-963-2547 or stop by at S and W Bait on Hwy. 371.
